Celebrate World Wetlands Day 2 Feb with free wetlands tours

While it's disconcertingly unlikely that your walking tour will look like my Niagara Falls trip of '03, what with the great absence of white stuff going on these days, at least you can visit all Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust centres for free on 2 February to mark World Wetlands Day.  Wetlands may not seem particularly glamourous - they lack the obvious charm of the seaside, for example - but I spent a lot of time on the marsh as a young teen and developed a deep appreciation of its subtle beauty, as depicted here by my once-tutor Thaddeus Holownia.  Wetlands are also a essential filter of natural and unnatural poisons that otherwise pour into the water table.  Finally, can you look a duck in the eye and tell it to go get a condo?  [GT]
