Gucci 'Race' medium top handle

Guccirace4

I have upmost respect for the house of Gucci, but in all seriousness, I thought this was some sort of rollerskate when I first looked at it.  Now that I can take a second gander... is that a lobster as a handle?!  For those of you with more a more forward sense of style than I, preorder now for US$2,250 so you can get your hands on one of these babies by May!

Double deal! YSL 'Muse' reversible tote

Double_deal_ysl_reversible_tote2 Double_deal_ysl_reversible_tote

Did you have your eye on the gorgeous and versatile YSL 'Muse' reversible tote?  It is sold out at Neiman Marcus, but it's on sale at seamlessfrills.com - over US$200 off for a slightly more palatable pricetag of US$1,019. Yes, I know... Lindsay Lohan wore it, but its still a delicious tote.  And, of course, you can wear it in two different colors, so you can say you bought two bags for the price of one!

For the working girl...Botkier's 'Sasha'

For_the_working_girlbotkier_sasha_2 For_the_working_girlbotkier_sasha_3

Net-A-Porter is giving its own insider tips for what a working girl can be wearing in her professional life.  As one myself, I know what its like to constantly be wondering - is this appropriate for the office?  Can it hold all my stuff?  Is it sexy enough to spend money on?  Botkier's new 'Sasha' duffle (US$695) comes in several luxuriously soft leather choices, and is both beautiful as well as functional.  It even has two different ways to wear it.  Fit your laptop and files safely and echo a briefcase, or sling it over your shoulder for a lunch with the girls.

Printed floral bowling bag from ASOS

Image1

Not content with selling Paul's Boutique bags, ASOS have decided to start selling their own cheaper version. Bright coloured prints and metallic handles are key features of a lot of the Paul's Boutique designs and this ASOS version doesn't hold back on pinching paying homage to those features. At £15, the ASOS version is a lot cheaper than the real deal but it's also nowhere near as nice. It's the loud and quirky prints used at Paul's Boutique that make their bags stand out and I'm afraid this ASOS offering just looks a little bit dull in comparison!

It seems that a few designers are taking a leaf out of Jimmy Choo's repertoire of recent and fantastic offerings! Looking not unlike the 'Ramona', with its drawstring detail, Gustto's 'Torlia' is the perfect spring offering. Pick yours up for $625 from Active Endeavours.

Abaete for Payless Sullivan clutch

Abaete_payless_clutch

If, like many bag ladies, you haven't stepped inside a Payless since you were shopping for your first  elementary school dance and you've never dreamed of looking for non-shoe accessories in the bargain-priced shop, perhaps you should check it out. Black and white addicts will love the Abaete for Payless clutch, above. That's right, Payless has begun courting designers much in the vein of Target, even if Abaete isn't quite as well known as Isaac Mizrahi or Proenza Schouler. So invest in some chic for the price of $18 and save your urge to splurge on one great statement piece.

Sail boat pendant necklace from Topshop

Sailboatpendanttopshop6

I know everyone is getting giddy about the imminent launch of Kate Moss' collection for Topshop, but lets not forget about the goodies they have in store right now. This cute little sail boat pendant necklace is what I currently have my beady eye on. It's only £6 and so won't break the bank. It'll help ease the pain of never getting the coveted Blue Peter badge.

Twinkleberry's silver heart cluster necklace

Silverclusterpinkribbonmainimage03

You are never to young to get into accessories, and rather than dress little girls up in mini adult things (which can sometimes be disconcerting), why not set the potential little Bag Lady niñas on the right path. This silver heart cluster necklace from Twinkleberry is just the thing. Specifically aimed at girly girls of 8 years and older, it has a sterling silver heart and a Swarovski crystal on velvet ribbon; of which they can choose from a variety of colours. It only costs £12, so they can save up for it; or if you know a little girl who deserves something special, look no further. I know what I'm getting my god-daughter for her birthday.

Louis Vuitton Summer collection: Polka Dots Fleurs

Lvmorgane1

So after offending my eyes with the Monogram Dentelle collection, I went looking for some nice Louis Vuitton bags I could say lovely things about. I do prefer to be positive. 'Polka Dots Fleurs' it said. How bad could that be? I thought. Well, you've got to laugh, haven't you? "Inspired by the magic of fairytales", the above 'Morgane' bag costs £3,700 and is out of stock online.

Funnily enough, it's not the buttons I really hate. The bag itself is blah at best and when you've got 468 buttons, you really don't need the "creased-look golden brass pieces" and "decorative padlock". Less is more, Louis love!

Louis Vuitton Summer collection: Monogram Dentelle

Lvspeedy1

The "highly anticipated" Louis Vuitton Spring/Summer 2007 runway collection (which we wrote about back in September last year) has arrived in stores. "Highly anticipated" by whom? Not by me ... I'm afraid LV is just a bit too WAG for my tastes. I don't even like the classic monogram, it reminds me of those little shaped cheesy biscuits you get on planes now they can't give you peanuts anymore. Where was I? Oh yes, new Louis Vuitton collection. The thing is, they've been designed by Marc Jacobs who presumably set himself a challenge to create the world's ugliest bag. You don't think the one above's too bad? I'm just easing you in...

(The 'Speedy 30' (above) costs £700 and, like the following bags is "subtly adorned with 18th century-style lingerie lace". I'm not sure you can use "subtly" when describing Louis Vuitton bags, but let's forge on...)

Luella 'Strappy Army' bags and Topshop's homage

Redblackluellatopshop

I've loved Luella's 'Strappy Army' bags ever since I saw the oversized red version being carried down the catwalk during New York fashion week last year. It now seems that one of the key features of the bag - the over-long straps - are filtering down onto the high street. The red bag seen above is Luella's hot pink patent leather 'Strappy Army' (looks red to me!) and the navy blue bag comes from Topshop...

'Market Bags' by Jaye Hersh

Marketbags
It seems that the whole world has gone ga-ga for "budget shoppers", thanks to Bag Lady hero, Marc Jacobs! Happily, though, this brand is about more than picking up on fashion trends. The bags, created by Jaye Hersh, are a partnered product with the International Rescue Committee, which provides education for children affected by war around the world; with $35 from each sale going towards the charity. Available in black/red/white or blue/red/white colour combinations, you also have the option of having your bag monogrammed with your initials for an extra $20. They're $100 from Shop Intuition.

Valentino Embroidered shopping tote

Valentino_embroidered

I don' t think I shop anywhere fancy enough to wear a US#1,895 Valentino shopping tote, personally. But if you're constantly perusing 5th Avenue, this could be the overpriced carry-all just waiting to hold your wadded up gum, water bottle, and inevitable countless receipts! I kid because I love. Love, love, love everything Valentino does, that is. And this 'Tmoro' leather bag with black braided leather trim makes my jealous heart go all aflutter.

Rafe for Target floral canvas handheld duffle

Targetrafew4

Vintage-inspired is probably a kinder term than retro, but who cares what you call it when a print is so cute? This Rafe for Target satchel can cheer you right up with its bright floral, but it avoids being too girly or cutesy at the same time. A solid structure and chocolate 'outline' trim helps keep the design grounded. At US$49.99, it's a bit more expensive than most of Target's bags, but it's probably worth it for the superior design.

'Panda' Bag at Delias

Pandadeli

If you look up the word 'cute' in the dictionary, I wouldn't be surprised if you found a picture of this 'Panda' Bag next to it. For $36.50 it's a little pricier then your average Delias bag but I love the candy coloured bamboo shoots that run up and down it and it's probably the closest I'll get to owning my very own Panda Bear.

Miu Miu suede tie-dye tote

Miumiutie

In secondary school one of my more successful assignments was creating a tie-dye t-shirt. Orange, white and huge, I wore it as often as I could and a tear comes to my eye even now when I remember how my Mum made me get rid of "that ratty old thing". Well now's her chance to make it up to me with this Miu Miu suede tie-dye tote. It may not be to everyones taste but I love the fact that each bag is hand tie-dyed making everyone unique in pattern. Plus she needn't worry about the $1,595 price tag; after all, my own initial creation was priceless!

Bandolino Poplars tote

Poplars_1_2 Poplars_2_2

A fun carryall, this Bandolino tote comes in preppy stripes or a retro butterfly pattern. At US$39, why not buy both? A snap closure and inside zipper pocket keep all your essentials secure whether you're shopping or sunbathing. Both bags feature a subdued earth tone color palette - the stripes with cooler blue overtones and the butterflies with warmer brown. Too cute.

'Tramp' clutch from Dune

Why did Dune name these pretty clutches 'Tramp', as there is nothing remotely trampy about them? The silk clutches come in blue, black and red gingham, which in turn reminds me of picnics and the outdoors. Yay for Summer! They are both playful and smart, and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. They cost £55 each - which colour will you go for?

Ugly Accessory of the Week

Dpuglyofweek

As a bag, this oversized teal offering from Dorothy Perkins isn't all that bad. What ruins it and makes it look, dare I say it - tacky, is the studded comical skull face on the side. I think Dotty P was trying to be edgy, but instead the skull resembles Janet & Allan Ahlberg's 'Funnybones' characters. They may be cute, but edgy they are not!

WW2 painted satchels by Kate Spade

Spade12Spade22

These hand-painted satchels by Kate Spade were inspired by World War II. The soldiers painted their bags (presumably not with flowers!) so that they could be easily identified. The satchels have also been replicated using distressed leather and aged hardware. Beautiful, unique and a conversation piece, they cost $395.00 each.

Mia pendants by Elizaldi

UspendantEnglandpendant

I'm not sure how I feel about these pendants. It's an interesting idea - each pendant contains a vintage or reproduction stamp framed in sterling silver - but I just don't think they're all that attractive. The Elizaldi website claims that the unique thing about them is you can buy a few and layer them with other pendants or charms. So if, like me, you have dual nationality and you want to broadcast it on your chest, they cost $58 each.

White '80s plastic sunglasses from Dorothy Perkins

Whitesun4

Yesterday I posted about some white plastic sunglasses from Topshop that were similar to the pair Drew Barrymore has been seen wearing recently. I have just discovered that Dorothy Perkins have come up with an even better pair! These are much more in the style of Ray-Ban Wayfarers and much closer to Drew's Linda Farrow Vintage pair than the Topshop offering. The good news? They are a complete bargain at just £10. The bad news? They're already sold out online!

Jersey turban from Topshop

19k48qblk_normal

I knew it wouldn't take long before high street versions of Prada's turbans started to make an appearance and, lo and behold, this one has now appeared on the Topshop website. So, hands up who would actually wear this. Outside. Where there are people? Not me, that's for sure! Turbans have the distinct whiff of a trend that's sure to fail miserably simply because they are bound to make you look ridiculous. If you're feeling braver than me, then it will cost you £10 and I want photographic evidence of you wearing it near living, breathing human beings!

PMS-inspired totes at Shop Intuition

Pmsatshopintuition
I think I've found my favourite series of totes ever. Putting into words those things you want to say when it all gets too much (which seems to happen at least twice a week), they're both amusing and oddly poignant. If you're an 'are you strong enough to be my man?' kind of gal (aren't we all?), you can pick up 'I Hate People', 'High Threshold' and 'Sometimes I Get Tired...' totes for just $35 each.

Woven metallic scarf from Oasis

Oasiswovenmetallicscarf14

It may be warming up now, but you never know what is behind the next cloud with this unpredictable British weather. So when the sun sets and the temperature dips, to keep the chill off why not use this woven metallic scarf from Oasis. Both on trend with its metallic colour, and different, thanks to the woven construction, I think this scarf is definitely a 'must have' (sorry to use a cliché). It'll be £14 well spent.

Lara Bohinc's 'Solar Eclipse' bracelet

Larasolareclipse

I still haven't been able to get my obviously pea sized brain to figure out how this Lara Bohinc 'Solar Eclipse' bracelet works, but what the hell, it looks pretty. When you figure it out, it closes into a bold wide cuff  bracelet, but if silver is not your thing, it's also available in gold from Browns. So if you want to tackle this accessories conundrum, it'll set you back £310. That is slightly pricier than a Rubiks cube, but then again, you can't wear a Rubiks cube.

Animal Print luggage by GoGoGear

Freda1_2

This 'luscious chocolate leopard' bag immediately made me think of former Scary Spice Mel B and her new daughter Fortuna Daphne Bay. Costing $299 from Freda LA (the bag, not the baby - she's going to cost Eddie Murphy a lot more ... allegedly), it's also available in two different snake prints. Plus it's got wheels and an extendable handle so you can drag it along with one hand and push the pram with the other, Mel!

Maxwell Scott's 'Claudia'

Maxwellscott

A new label to the Bag Lady pages, Maxwell Scott is an Italian design house which claims to have over 500 years in traditional tanning methods on its side. I'm loving their new collection for 2007, which this 'Claudia' (£249.99) shoulder-bag belongs to, each piece retains the similar timeless shape that's perfect for the office, and with three colours available, I'm sure you'll find something that meets your approval. I know I have, I'm already dribbling over 'Clarissa', which bears more than a passing resemblance to Hermés' 'Birkin'.
