MYMO cute kid's mobile

mymoSoon you’ll be able to set up wireless hotspots in utero and embed mobile phones directly into the ear canal at birth. In the meantime, however, there’s the £60 MYMO mobile phone, made especially for children between the ages of 4 and 8.

The bright coloured plastic mobile has been designed to appeal to children and, with just 3 buttons controlling all the functions, it should be easy enough for adults to work out how to use it before handing it over to their far more tech-savvy offspring.

In fact, we're finding the bright colours, cute ears and three-button design pretty appealing to us. It only holds 5 phone numbers (so kids will be limited in who they can call), which would be perfect for us on a night out: 2 best friends, cab, takeaway and flatmate for when we lose our keys.

The headset also doubles up as a necklace, so kids (we) don’t have to carry it around in a bag. Because it only works with a pay as you go SIM, parents don’t have to worry about phone bills. Loc8tion services mean you can locate the MYMO (and the child) wherever they happen to be.

The phone costs £60 with an O2 SIM card.

I know this was supposed to be removed from circulation today because of research demonstrating how mobiles may be damaging, but is it still available anywhere, for an emergency I would rather a child be open to damaging rays for a minute than not be able to get in touch with their family. Parents have the opetion to control the time spent on the mobile and therefore decrease risk by only having numbers of responsible adults eg mum, dad, aunties, nanny etc programmed into the phone so they wont spend ages chatting about trivial matters.

I would love my son to have one of these when he's a little older. He is only 22 months old at the moment but thinking ahead, I definately want him to have some form of mobile phone as early as possible, after all,in this day and age I think it's essential to be able to communicate with your child at all times. Also, if they are brought up with a phone from an early age,it may help them to realise how important it is to make sure their parents know where hey are for there own safety.
