Lollipop reusable nappies in cotton and silk
Reusable nappies are a tricky business: you have to balance the environmental impact of washing versus the impact of just tossing versus the impact on your squishy, overstressed brain during the early phases of having a squalling bundle of needy adoration appropriating your every waking (or half-sleeping) moment. We've come a long way since the safety pin and swaddling cloth school - we've talked about the No Excuse! trial pack from the Ecologist, but do also visit the Lollipop online store for their Weenie Trial Kit. Very handsomely priced at only £20, it includes a pair of cotton/elastane Pouch Pants, 2 microfiber liners and 5 biodegradeable pads. The pad goes in a waterproof pouch which goes in the pants, and when your sprog befouls the pad, just pull out the whole pouch for easy transport, and snap in the spare. Replacement pads are only £3 per 100. But if your baby has ultra-sensitive skin and nothing but the best will do, why, there's a silk option also.
More expensive, naturally, but also resuable, the Lollipop silk nappy liners are fit for even the most outraged baby skin. Silk is the perfect fiber in many ways - it wicks moisture away from the skin so that it disperses and dries. So here, it is unparalleled for keeping your baby's backside (and front side) fresh and dry, and well worth the extra expense - this may be one of those few occasions where you can actually buy extra sleep.
