Organic chocolate with a twist of modern art

Artbarcenterimage

Ithaca Fine Chocolates of Ithaca, New York, was founded by Erika Fowler-Decatur and her husband Michael.  Erika was a museum director and onetime art history instructor who planned to open her own gallery.  How best to promote unknown modern artists, they wondered?  Well... why not make small reproductions of their works and wrap them in with luscious fair-trade organic Swiss chocolate, conched for 78 hours?  Available online for $2.25 for 45 gram bars or $3.75 for 100 gram bars, with 10% of the proceeds going to fund arts causes.

Artists interested in participating should send 5-10 (only the first 10 will be reviewed) 72 dpi samples of their work in electronic format, plus an artist's statement, and resume to erika@ithacafinechocolates.com.

"The 2006-07 application deadline is Friday, July 28, 2006. Selected artists will be notified in September.  Reproductions of works by each of the selected artists will be included in Art Bars for at least one year beginning in December, 2006. Please note that reproductions are printed on cards measuring 1 3/4 x 4" for the small bars and 2 3/4 x 4 1/2" for the large bars. The selected work must be available in a good print-quality digital image (300 dpi or greater). Original works are also featured in an exhibition in December."  Works by children aged 12 and under are also solicited, but they must be submitted by Saturday, June 4, 2006.  [GT]

Here's how to make delicious chocolate covered strawberries. First of all ensure that the strawberries you are intending to use are dry, then allow them to be room temperature warm prior to making them. After the strawberries have been covered in chocolate, put them in your refrigerator to cool, but do not store them in the fridge. Consume within 1-2 days.
