Flowing bright ideas from waste

Portfolio_01_01 Who'd have thought so much beauty could come from old plastic bottles?  Michelle Brand "loves to see design opportunities where other people see problems" and the amount of waste we generate as a nation is one hell of a problem.  Michelle has taken the bases from empty plastic bottles - which are a beautiful sort of floral shape, she sands them and tags them together to create functional art.  The 'cascade' light (pictured) is a dramatic statement and can be created to whatever length suits.  There's also the versatile 'flowerfall'  - a window screen or room divider.  Pieces are made to order and take around a month to complete, priced from £300.
