Windmills on your mind?
The Westmill co-op are constructing a community owned wind farm at Westmill farm in Oxfordshire, on land owned by organic farmer Adam Twine. The co-op plans to finance and purchase five 1.3 MW wind turbines through a fundraising campaign. A share option was launched in November 2005 and is open until the end of February. If you get your skates on you can still buy into this opportunity and invest in something really worthwile. Shares cost £1 with a minimum stake of £250 and the project will run for a minimum of 25 years providing green electricity for 2,500 local homes. After 25 years shareholders will get their original investment back. Commercial production is due to commence in December - sounds like a win-win eco friendly punt to me!
