English organic wine (I kid you not)

AvalonwineSo, the UK stats have been counted and we've racked up another one of the hottest years on record. October was the warmest in history and we nearly reached 1990's record average temperature. A sign that we should all be living greener? Yep. And also a great excuse to sample some English wine, traditionally a target up there with Vicky Pollard and the Irish as the butt of our lame gags. Well, quit with the wisecracks. Pennard's Avalon French-style organic wine has been getting the thumbs-up from reviewers lately, and it has the added bonus of being local - unlike that food mile-heavy bottle of Jacobs Creek tempting you from the supermarket shelf. Order 12 or more and you'll get the white table wine for £5.80 a bottle via Pennard's website (it's a print-and-mail-order affair).
