Green festival gadget # 2

FreeplayWhether you're preparing the private helicopter for Glyndebourne this weekend or making some killer playlists for Homelands in a couple of weeks, you're going to need a torch. It gets dark in Sussex and Hampshire, you know. Fortunately, torches don't come much brighter - or greener - than this new wind-up one, the Freeplay XrayLED. Its ultra efficient LED means that 30 seconds of cranking gives you 20 minutes of light - far better than what you used to get from Freeplay's older, xenon bulb torches. If you're feeling really butch, 40 minutes will top it up to full power. You can order one for £30 from the Centre for Alternative Technology.
